Hey, this was posted in the main blog, though a handful of people are having trouble viewing it from my blog.
**EDIT** Post ANY and ALL questions in this thread, please do *not* fill up my message box on here or on PSN with questions as they will not be answered from there anymore.
This is a tutorial on how to set up a Japanese PSN account on the PS3 in order to download Adhoc Party.
Adhoc Party is a *game/program* you download on your PS3 that allows you to play Monster Hunter games on the PSP over the internet with other people who use AdHoc Party.
Note: You MUST have a 40 gig or higher model to use AdHoc Party. The 20 gig, to my knowledge, lacks built in WiFi, and will not be able to function with AdHoc Party.
Note: Before you start any of this, know that the PS3 MUST be hooked up to your router/modem via ethernet cable in order for Adhoc Party to function, it CANNOT simply use the wifi for internet connection. You may need to go into the network connection option on the PS3 main menu and manually toggle a direct connection.
If this is not done, you will get a 2005 error code, any questions regarding the 2005 error code will be told to re-read this FAQ.
Note: READ THE ENTIRE TUTORIAL BEFORE POSTING ANY QUESTIONS.
Note: You do not need to use this account in order to use Adhoc Party, just to download it, once it is downloaded, you essentially never need to use it again for our purposes.
Note: Sorry in advance for some of the last few photos, I was moving as I took them : /
Step 1. At the Playstation Main Menu, select “Create New User” It may be any name, it doesn’t matter, for this faq, I am naming it “Capcom Tutorial”.

**Notice the Monster Hunter theme? XD**
Step 2. Log in to the new account and go over to the PSN icon and select “Sign up for Playstation Network”

Step 3. Select “Create a New Account (New Users)” at the bottom and then hit continue

Step 4. At this screen, be sure to select “Japan” as the country of Residence

Note: From now on, the rest of the procedure will be in Japanese
Step 5. don’t bother fiddling with the top options, just go to the bottom one (birthday) and select any date starting from 1990 and below so as to avoid parental control issues. Hit Next

Note: At the very bottom of the screen, the button on the right will now be referred to as the “Next” button

Step 6. A screen with a large wall of text should appear, this is the license agreement, simply hit Next

Step 7. This is personal information page. The first textbox is for email address. It doesn’t have to be real, as long as it has an @ and a .com or .net it will be fine, for this FAQ I will use blahhblahblah@fake.com

The 2nd text box is for a password, you don’t need to memorize this, don’t make it completely random as you must retype this in about 5 seconds but it doesn’t matter, you wont need this for any future reference, but it MUST contain at least 6 characters, combined of both numbers and letters, cannot have 3 characters being repeated one after another, it must not be the same as your sign-in ID or online ID.
3rd text box is confirm password, just type the same thing you just typed for the previous one.
Make sure to check the checkbox, this will save the password

Next is the secret question, choose anything
Next is the answer, any random letters will do
Hit Next
Step 8. This is for your online ID, or your “PSN” tag. This is what people will recognize you as. As I said at the start of this faq, we are ONLY using this ID to download Adhoc Party. Once it has been downloaded, you can use your regular online ID (PSN tag) to play. For this FAQ, I am making it CapcomAdhoc

If the name hasn’t been taken already, you should get this screen. Hit OK

If you got anything different, change the name as it has already been taken.
It will now simply show you the online ID, go to the bottom and hit Next
Step 9. The first textbox is for a first name, just type random letters

Second textbox is for last name, again, randomness
3rd textbox is for gender, which is optional, so do as you wish, and hit next
Step 10. You should now be at a screen that looks like this

For the first box, simply type in FIVE (5) numbers, doesn’t matter which ones
The next textbox will activate a drop down menu **IMPORTANT** choose the 2ND OPTION

For the rest of the textboxes, just input random letters, it doesn’t matter
Step 11. You should now be here **IMPORTANT** DO NOT CHECK THIS BOX, it will make you have to confirm the *fake* email we provided earlier, simply skip this screen, hit Next

Step 12. Congrats! If you are here, we made it! XD this is the final page, simply confirming all of the information, scroll all the way down and hit Next

I am stating this again.
the PS3 MUST be hooked up to your router/modem in order to Adhoc Party to function, it CANNOT simply use the wifi for internet connection. You may need to go into the network connection option on the PS3 main menu and manually toggle a direct connection.
If this is not done, you will get a 2005 error code, any questions regarding the 2005 error code will be told to re-read this FAQ.
Step 13. If you followed my instructions before and checked the box to save your password, then it should already be written in, sign into the new account. You should now be in the Japanese PSN store

Step 14. Go to the 2nd to last option

Select Adhoc Party

Select the first one (the 2nd one is a video of adhoc in action, we don’t want that, we wanna use it!)

And commence download!
W0o0o0o0oo0o0o0o0o0o0!!!
Congrats guys, you now have Adhoc Party and can play your multiplayer PSP games (namely, Monster hunter) online via your PS3!\
BUT! we are not finished yet
Now some things for setting up Adhoc Party
Firstly, like many japanese games, the "Circle" button is now select and the "X" button is now cancel, so be mindful of that.
NOTE: This is a new feature that has been added after I made this tutorial and is giving people problems, before you pair your PSP, you must log into AdHoc Party first, meaning, select the first option and keep hitting next until you see the world select screen, once there, exit out and continue with the steps after this note. Not doing this will result in a 1005 error code, and any further questions about the 1005 error will promptly be told to re-read the tutorial.
(first make sure the WLAN switch on top of the PSP is switched into the on position)
Now in order to "pair" your PSP with Adhoc Party, select the 3rd option

It will now begin scanning for any PSPs in range that are utilizing a wifi connection

While it does this, simply access any form of internet with your PSP, for example, I load up MHF2 and go into the online guild hall, as it does that, it will find the PSP and show you it has found it (It will show you the PSP's name, in my case, it is Bastion)

Once it has found your PSP, back on the main menu of Adhoc Party, select the first option, you will now be greeted to large "wheels". These are *universes*, L1 and R1 will cycle through them and the left analog stick will cycle between each *world* within the *universe*
The official Capcom Monster Hunter selection is J50, though it is often full (limit is 32 people per world) so it often overflows into J51. Once in a world, you may join a room by simply selecting one with the analog stick, hit "Circle" and choose the 2nd option.
Alternatively, should you wish to create your own room, select a vacant space on the ground and hit "Circle" and, again, choose the 2nd option. You will then be able to choose the room name, subtitle and other various options, once finished select the bottom left option and voila! You have made a room!
Happy Hunting! Hope to see many of my fellow hunters online soon
Now, one final note. In order for this to work, you PS3 MUST BE CONNECTED TO YOUR ROUTER/MODEM, it CANNOT simply use wifi, otherwise adhoc won’t work.
Oh yea, and for the final time
the PS3 MUST be hooked up to your router/modem in order to Adhoc Party to function, it CANNOT simply use the wifi for internet connection. You may need to go into the network connection option on the PS3 main menu and manually toggle a direct connection.
If this is not done, you will get a 2005 error code, any questions regarding the 2005 error code will be told to re-read this FAQ.
